Finding an ASU Clinical Preceptor in Indiana

Indiana ties APRN prescriptive authority to a written collaborative practice agreement. The agreement describes cooperation, consultation, care coordination, and review of prescribing with a licensed practitioner.

The state's terminology can be confusing because the APRN credential is closely connected with prescribing authority. Many NPs prescribe in daily practice, so collaboration is common. It does not mean the physician conducts every patient encounter with the NP.

For an ASU rotation, current credentials, certification, patient population, site authority, and supervision plan matter most. The agreement alone neither qualifies nor disqualifies the clinician. The practice must provide the course-specific setting and enough teaching capacity.

In Maricopa County, Edson assigns placements, and current Edson policy governs any exceptions. Students should follow the present process rather than asking a local clinic to reserve a slot independently. A clinician's interest is useful information, but it does not override the assignment system.

For an outside-county search, organize the patient population, concentration, setting, dates, and schedule before outreach. A precise request helps the provider and site decide whether they can host. It also gives Edson clearer information when the proposed placement enters review.

The ASU program is hybrid, with required Phoenix activities. It should not be planned as a fully remote degree. Standard clinical work ordinarily needs physical patient access at an approved site, even when other learning uses online tools.
