Build a practical ASU search in Mississippi

Gulfport, Biloxi, and Ocean Springs form a coastal market. Hattiesburg, Tupelo, Oxford, Meridian, and Southaven provide other regional hubs. Delta communities may offer broad patient care but fewer alternate preceptors, making early outreach important.

State the concentration, course, patients, dates, schedule, and preceptor information needed by ASU. Ask who controls student acceptance and whether the practice has an internal application or department review.

Mississippi is outside Maricopa County. Under the current Edson process, students identify the required clinical sites and preceptors. Start with professional and employer relationships, then expand to practices chosen for the exact course and patient population.

Edson must approve the site and preceptor before clinical work begins. Mississippi facilities may add health documentation, screening, training, orientation, or internal credentialing. Both school review and site onboarding must be complete before participation.

In Maricopa County, placements are generally assigned, with exceptions controlled by current Edson procedures. Mississippi students should follow the out-of-county process and review the clinical placement policy for current details.

Record the site address, patient population, clinician credential status, weekly capacity, facility contact, application deadline, and next Edson action. Plan an alternate travel corridor before it is needed. If the first regional option cannot support the course, identify the next workable city, the maximum repeatable drive, and any days that could support a concentrated schedule. The alternative still needs the correct patients and Edson approval.

ASU's Advanced Nursing Practice DNP includes key NP concentrations in FNP, PMHNP, adult-gerontology, and women's health. The current FNP plan totals up to 1,125 clinical and residency hours, including 585 specialty practicum hours. Other totals vary, so confirm the current program of study, concentration, and catalog before scheduling.

Break the plan into eligible clinic days and patient encounters. Confirm preceptor leave, holidays, regional travel, and backup days. A rural clinic may provide a broad scope but variable volume, while a large practice may have more patients but limited student capacity.

Keep clinical tracking and compliance systems generic and use ASU's current instructions. Approval, accurate documentation, and the correct patient experiences all need attention.

The ASU program is hybrid and includes required Phoenix activities. It is never fully online. Mississippi students should account for Phoenix travel while building the local clinical calendar.
