Organize an ASU clinical search across Missouri

AANP classifies Missouri as a restricted practice state. Nurse practitioners assess patients, diagnose, manage treatment, order tests, prescribe, and coordinate care within Missouri's collaborative practice and authorization requirements.

A Missouri NP may manage patient visits and make daily clinical decisions while working within a documented collaborative structure. Restricted practice does not mean a physician participates in every encounter. Ask how protocols, prescribing, consultation, and review work at the proposed clinic.

Edson separately evaluates the clinician, patients, supervision, and course. Confirm current ASU program eligibility in Missouri before treating a positive conversation as an approved plan.

The Missouri Board of Nursing publishes official advanced practice guidance and credential information through the Division of Professional Registration. Search the proposed preceptor by exact legal name and confirm the active nursing and APRN record.

Also verify national certification, specialty, patient ages, current role, and practice address. The Board establishes state authority. Edson decides whether the proposed site, preceptor, and activities meet ASU course expectations.

The Saint Louis region and Kansas City area contain Missouri's largest pools of systems, independent groups, psychiatric services, primary care, urgent care, and specialties. Include suburbs when commuting is realistic, and expect large organizations to use central education departments.

Springfield is a major southwest hub. Columbia and Jefferson City provide central options, while Joplin and Cape Girardeau can support regional searches. Rural students may need a larger travel radius because fewer clinicians can accept learners.

Describe the concentration, course, patients, dates, schedule, and preceptor information needed by ASU. Ask who controls student placement and whether an organization has a fixed application window.

Missouri is outside Maricopa County, so students identify required clinical sites and preceptors under the current Edson process. Begin with trusted professional contacts, then widen the search by course and region.

Edson must approve the proposed site and preceptor before clinical work starts. Missouri facilities may require health records, screening, training, orientation, or department acceptance. An interested clinician is the beginning of review, not permission to begin.

Within Maricopa County, placements are generally assigned, with exceptions controlled through current Edson procedures. Missouri students should use the outside-Maricopa pathway and review the Edson approval page for current steps.

Keep a record for each Missouri organization, including the education contact, exact clinic location, patient focus, preceptor credential status, requested dates, and open facility tasks. Large systems may move a request between departments, while smaller practices may need a clear summary to decide whether staffing can support a learner.

Set a backup geography while the primary request is under review. A Saint Louis student might consider a sustainable suburban radius, while a regional student may compare Springfield, Columbia, or another hub. Any alternative must still match the course rather than serving only as an available schedule.

The ASU Advanced Nursing Practice DNP includes key NP concentrations in FNP, PMHNP, adult-gerontology, and women's health. The current FNP plan totals up to 1,125 clinical and residency hours, including 585 specialty practicum hours. Other totals vary, so confirm the current program of study, concentration, and catalog.

Ask how many course-eligible patients are seen, which days the preceptor is present, and whether leave or another student affects capacity. A suitable site must support the correct population and schedule across the term.

Keep clinical tracking and compliance systems generic and follow ASU's current tools. Patient fit, approved supervision, and accurate documentation are all part of a workable placement.

ASU's program is hybrid with required Phoenix activities. It is never fully online. Missouri students should plan Phoenix travel alongside local clinical days and verify the current program calendar.
