North Carolina NPs assess patients, diagnose, manage treatment, order tests, prescribe, educate, and coordinate care within that structure. Restricted practice does not necessarily mean the supervising physician attends every encounter. Protocols, prescribing, review, and site operations still matter.

Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill form the Triangle's large academic, community, outpatient, psychiatric, primary care, and specialty market. Systems often require central student applications rather than clinician-only arrangements.

Charlotte has another large clinical pool. Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point support the Triad, while Asheville and Boone are western hubs. Rocky Mount and eastern communities can broaden a search, and Wilmington anchors the southeastern coast.

Describe the concentration, course, patients, dates, schedule, and requested preceptor details. Ask whether education, credentialing, or local practice management controls student access.

North Carolina is outside Maricopa County, so students identify required clinical sites and preceptors under current Edson policy. Begin with trusted professional contacts, then expand by course and region.

Edson must approve the proposed site and preceptor before clinical work begins. Facilities may require screening, health documentation, privacy training, orientation, or department review. School and site clearance must both be complete.

Within Maricopa County, placements are generally assigned, with exceptions controlled through current Edson procedures. North Carolina students should follow the out-of-county process and review the Edson approval page for current instructions.

Track each North Carolina option by exact clinic location, education contact, preceptor credential status, supervising arrangement, patient population, dates, and open facility tasks. Large systems in the Triangle and Charlotte may use separate entities or departments, while regional practices may coordinate locally.

Choose a backup region before the primary request closes. Triangle, Triad, Charlotte, western, eastern, and coastal markets have different travel patterns and provider supply. Any alternative must support the assigned course rather than merely offer an available clinician.

Ask about patient volume, provider leave, holidays, and how supervision is maintained under the site's practice structure. These details help Edson evaluate the real experience and help the student build a schedule that can survive routine changes.

The ASU Advanced Nursing Practice DNP includes key NP concentrations in FNP, PMHNP, adult-gerontology, and women's health. The current FNP plan totals up to 1,125 clinical and residency hours, including 585 specialty practicum hours. Other totals vary, so confirm the current program of study, concentration, and catalog.

Ask about eligible patient volume, preceptor days, leave, holidays, and commute. A distant community site may work when hours are consistently concentrated, but a fragmented schedule can make repeated travel difficult.

Keep clinical tracking and compliance systems generic and use ASU's current tools. Approved activities, patient fit, and accurate documentation should guide the schedule.

ASU's program is hybrid with required Phoenix activities. It is never fully online. North Carolina students should coordinate Phoenix travel with local clinical commitments.
