Oklahoma City, Edmond, Moore, Norman, and Yukon offer the state's largest mix of primary, psychiatric, specialty, women's health, and hospital care. Tulsa adds another broad market through Broken Arrow and Owasso, with regional links toward Muskogee.
Lawton, Stillwater, Enid, Shawnee, Ardmore, and McAlester can widen the search. Community, rural, and tribal health organizations may provide strong continuity but use distinct approval processes. Ask about the specific patient population and who controls student access.
Calculate travel for the full rotation and confirm current ASU eligibility for Oklahoma clinical activity. A Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Colorado, or New Mexico site is a separate location for Edson review.
Outside Maricopa County, students identify the clinical arrangement
The Advanced Nursing Practice DNP placement process depends on location. Students completing required clinical experiences outside Maricopa County identify the necessary site and preceptor. Edson must approve the proposed arrangement before clinical work begins.
Placements within Maricopa County are assigned under the current Edson process, with exceptions managed by Edson. That Arizona policy does not supply an assigned Oklahoma site. Confirm the current outside-county steps, deadlines, forms, credentials, and concentration requirements with the program.
The Oklahoma practice may require its own background documents, health records, privacy training, or organizational review. Start those tasks alongside Edson submission. A clinician's yes is useful only when the site can host the student and both processes finish before the intended start.
Plan hours and Phoenix requirements together
ASU's Advanced Nursing Practice DNP includes key NP concentrations in FNP, PMHNP, adult-gerontology, and women's health. The current FNP program plan totals up to 1,125 clinical and residency hours, including 585 specialty practicum hours. Confirm these figures and the course sequence through the current program of study and catalog.
Other concentration totals vary. PMHNP needs genuine psychiatric scope and reliable patient access. Adult-gerontology students need the correct age group and setting, and women's health students need a patient panel aligned with the course. Do not force an available primary care site into a different concentration need.
The program is hybrid and includes required Phoenix activities, so it is not fully online. Coordinate Phoenix travel with Oklahoma clinical days, site onboarding, and later rotations that may require another setting.
