Submit an outside-Maricopa proposal to Edson
ASU's Advanced Nursing Practice DNP assigns clinical placement responsibility by location. Students completing required experiences outside Maricopa County identify their own sites and preceptors. Edson must review and approve the proposed Texas arrangement before the student performs clinical work.
Placements within Maricopa County are assigned through the current Edson process, with exceptions determined by Edson. That assignment model does not provide a Texas placement. Confirm current course criteria, deadlines, required credentials, and site agreement procedures for the intended term.
Texas organizations may require an affiliation agreement, health documentation, background review, privacy education, learner applications, or orientation. Start those tasks early and keep the site contact informed about Edson's separate academic review.
Fit the Texas site to concentration and clinical sequence
ASU's Advanced Nursing Practice DNP includes key NP concentrations in FNP, PMHNP, adult-gerontology, and women's health. The current FNP plan totals up to 1,125 clinical and residency hours, including 585 specialty practicum hours. Students should confirm current term sequencing and eligible settings in the program of study and catalog.
Other concentration totals vary. A family practice may support broad FNP objectives, while PMHNP, adult-gerontology, and women's health courses require the appropriate services, patient population, and preceptor qualifications. One site may not cover every required experience.
The program is hybrid and includes required Phoenix activities, so it is not fully online. Balance Phoenix dates, Texas travel, site onboarding, work, and the schedules of multiple potential preceptors across the program.
Assess physical and virtual preceptorship options
